VR Veterans Club Secretary Secretary Reports

Veteran’s Club Meeting Minutes, January 12, 2023

The meeting was opened by President Goody Morrison, with the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 25 members in attendance. This was followed by the secretary’s report indicating that the minutes of the last meeting had been posted to the club’s website. A motion to accept the minutes was made, seconded and approved by the membership. A donation to the veteran’s club was received from the VR Bridge Club in honor of Ray Hoehn who recently passed and who was a member of the veteran’s club. The secretary sent a thank you letter to the bridge club, and a letter of condolence was sent to Ray’s wife Lucy, and expressing thanks for Ray’s service as veteran of World War II. Treasurer Steve Rosenthal reported next on the club’s financial status. There was a balance of $3,174 with an additional $2,500 due from the Buick dealer related to the car show. He announced that during the ten years of the club’s existence, there were never any dues and we were always able to raise enough to support the club. Mike Heiserman reported that there were 120 cars at the car show and $5,000 was raised as a result. For the next car show he has already personally sent out 150 letters and 22 so far have responded. He will hire a DJ has responses for food trucks. He need help to park cars and manage the registration forms. Goody announced that the February 24th Members Dance would be held at 7PM.This will be a free member’s only event with dessert. Dennis Flier announced that he will arrange for a trip to the Seal Museum. Goody Morrison started a presentation of the war in Ukraine dealing with ammunition, medical supplies and military weaponry given to Ukraine. Unfortunately the projector system failed and he wiil present this topic at another time. The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 PM. Respectfully submitted. Cal Hunter, Secretary
