Veteran's Club Meeting Minutes from June 4, 2013

       Gentlemen,

Meeting opened at 1900 with 19 members in attendance. Total club membership is now 112 members.

An informal "Meet and Greet" with refreshments was held from 1900 to 1920.

Formal meeting commenced at 1920 with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The President's Report was presented. It was noted that progress was being made working with the Men's Cub on erecting a flag pole, although we will have to wait until the homeowners take over the HOA to complete the project. It was also noted that a member of the original Tuskegee Airmen, the first all black airmen of World War II, 332 Fighter Group will be a guest speaker at our November 7th meeting. We may open this meeting up to our entire neighborhood.

The Memorial Day Party held at the pool in conjunction with the HOA was a "huge" success!  Many VETS were in attendance helping to pour beer, pass out American Flags, and a variety of other jobs.  We picked up 14 new members at this function and hope to duplicate it again next year.  A DVD with 42 pictures were shown to the members in attendance.  We have attached one photo with these minutes.

The Secretary's Report was presented and the minutes of our May 9th meeting were voted upon to be accepted as written.

The Treasurer's Report was presented.

The Membership Report was presented. New members were introduced. The Club now has 112 members.

New Business was discussed. Plans are under development for the November 11th Veteran's Day Party. The December 5th road trip to Fort Lauderdale Naval Museum and preentation of the "Lost Squadron" were also discussed.

Program Chairman Roger Ruddick introduced guest speakers Carlos Kingsman and Ena Faulkner who represented the Workforce Alliance. They explained how they aid veterans in finding employment and discussed what qualifications they must meet to apply. They covered schooling, retraining, finding employment as well as accessing and evaluating veterans. They distributed literature from their organization after their informative presentation.

The 50/50 drawing was held and the winner donated the money back to the Veteran's Club!
