Veteran's Club Meeting Minutes From October 10, 2019

Our meeting opened at 1600 with 33 members in attendance. Total club membership is now 202.

An informal "Meet and Greet" was held from 1600 to 1615.

Formal business commenced at 1615 with the "Pledge of Allegiance". Vice President Goody Morrison chaired this month's meeting since our President is on travel.

The Secretary's Report was presented. The minutes of our last meeting were voted upon and accepted by the membership.

The Treasurer's Report was presented. Our current cash balance on hand is $4,984.81. To date 253 individuals have signed up for our Veteran's Day Party and Dance.

The President's Report was presented by Vice President Goody Morrison. Goody urged all members to do what they can to solicit gifts for the Veteran's Day Party raffel, and noted that the donation letter is on our website under "By-Laws" and can be downloaded to present to potential donors. He reminded all that the date of this year's Veteran's Party is Monday, November 11th in order to accomodate the availability of the King's Academy Choir. He also noted that the set up for this year's Veteran's Day Party will be at 1400 on the day of the event, and invited members to come and help. The set up is usually completed in one hour or less.

He indicated that our Veteran's Day Flag Ceremony will be held on Monday, November 11 from 0900 to 1000.

Goody also reminded our members that our next Blood Drive will be held on Friday November 8, from 0900 to 1600. All members were encouraged to donate blood if they are able. Please contact Tom Conlkin or Steve Metzger to arrange a reservation.

Goody noted that this year's spring BBQ Party will be held on April 4th at 1900.

He noted that our annual elections will be held during the December meeting. The  President and Secretary positions will both be on the ballot. Anyone interested in running should contact Goody and advise him of their interest.

Goody informed the membership that 10% of the proceeds from dinner at the Valencia Reserve Cafe on Wednesday October 23rd will be donated to the Wounded Warrior's Relief Fund. Reservations are required.

Vice President Goody Morrison made an interesting and informative presentation on the 1961 Berlin Crisis that included a video. He also discussed his own experiences working with the Army Combat Engineers in Germany and France and his training in demolitions. The presentation was well received by all hands and was followed by a question and answer period.

The 50/50 raffel was held. The raffel yielded $45.00 for the Wounded Warriors Relief Fund.
