Veteran's Club Meeting Minutes From March 24, 2019

Our meeting opened at 0900 with 42 members in attendance. Total club membership is now 200.

An informal "Meet and Greet" was held from 0900 to 0920.  

Formal business commenced at 0920 with the "Pledge of Allegiance". Vice President Goody Morrison chaired the meeting since President Jules Harper was on travel.

The Secretary's Report was presented and the minutes of our last meeting were voted upon and accepted by the membership.

The Treasurer's Report was presented. We have a balance of $7,945 on hand. To date, over 200 individuals have signed up for our Spring BBQ. $1,878.60 was raised for the Wounded Warriors Relief Fund at our recent Car Show.

The President's Report was presented by Vice President Goody Morrison. New members and guests were introduced. A moment of silence was held in memory of Vinnie D'Aquino, who recently passed away after a long illness. A funeral mass will be held on Monday March 25th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Boynton Beach at 10:00 AM, with internment in the South Florida Veteran's Cemetery on Tuesday March 26th. Club members are encouraged to attend and wear their Veteran's Club shirts and khaki pants.

Fifty-five pints of blood were donated at our recent Veteran's Club Blood Drive. Members were thanked for their ongoing support, especially Blood Drive Chairman Tom Conklin and his assistant Steve Metzler.

Board Member and Car Show Chairman Mike Heiserman thanked all who supported the Car Show. 85 cars participated, 23 of which were Corvettes. Sixty trophies were awarded, with a Nash Healy designated as the "Best of Show". The Buick dealership dontated $1,200 to support the event, and over $1800.00 was raised for the Wounded Veteran's Relief Fund.

Our Spring BBQ will be held on April 13th. Over 200 have already signed up for the event. Ray and the Raylettes will be on hand to provide entertainment for this year's event.

Goody also reminded all the our annual Fleet Week ship visits will take place on Tuesday April 30. Details will be provided as soon as they become available.

The Director of the West Palm Beach Veteran's Medical Center, accompanied by the Medical Center Outreach Coordinator, made an interesting and informative presentation about
recent developments, new initiatives and impending improvements at the Center. The impact of recently implemented legislation was also discussed in detail. The presentation was well received and was followed by a lively question and answer period.

All Sunday breakfast meetings will be held in the Social Hall from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

--Thursday, November 14, 2019
All Thursday meetings will be held in the Social Hall from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

The 50/50 raffel was held, generating $55.00 for the Wounded Veteran's Relief Fund.

The Vice President noted in his concluding remarks that our next meeting would be on Thursday April 11 at 1600. 

The meeting concluded at 1010.
